“But there were worse things than disappointment, and I'd lived through several of them already.” R.J. Anderson, Ultraviolet

His pace was slow

as they walked in the door

He looked older

than his online persona

Is this how it is now,

she thought in horror

Dating in the post pandemic

era of corona

From proposals of marriage

to those more savage

Her adorers came

from all over the globe

Some timid and sweet,

others she'd ravage

But for this one

there would be no disrobe

Her fingernails were

painted red ombre

Subtle traces of

her tormented past

Ripping out hearts

of all those hombres

Disappointment lurked

but easily forecast

The conversation flowed

for an hour or two

He didn't notice her

hopes that were dashed

They'd both driven far,

and she wasn't rude

To her it was clear,

this just wasn't a match

She said sorry, not feeling it,

thanks and goodbye

He looked astounded

and surprised

Disappointment clear

and present in his eyes

Better luck next time,

her plans revised

Exploring new cultures through travel, or immersing with all the senses with the men I've loved, is pure pleasure, and lingers in beautiful poetic memories indefinitely.  Read More
